Internationalization of education in Armenia:

Synergy between Erasmus + HARMONY and BOOST projects

On 20-21 February 2017 the kick-off meeting of the new Erasmus + "Boosting Armenian Universities Internationalization Strategy & Marketing” (BOOST) capacity building project coordinated by the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) took place in Yerevan, Armenia. The objective of the project is to foster and promote further internationalization of Armenian Higher Education through development of national and institutional policy framework and tools. Armenian participant universities are partnered by higher education institutions from Estonia, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. 
"Internationalization of universities is a global trend. Everywhere in the world internationalization of universities is among priority activities. Likewise, higher education institutions in Armenia emphasize the importance of internationalization and take important steps in that direction,” - said Karine Harutyunyan, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Armenia.
Considering that since 2015 Russian-Armenian University (Yerevan, Armenia) implements Erasmus+ "Development of approaches to harmonization of comprehensive internationalization strategies in higher education, research and innovation at EU and partner" (HARMONY) capacity building project, which is dedicated to the development and harmonization of internationalization strategies of higher education in Armenia, Belarus and Russia, during the kick-off meeting of BOOST project Ms. Suzanna Shamakhyan, Head of RAU Department of International Cooperation made a presentation on HARMONY project and its current results on revealing the state-of-art on internationalization in the country.
In the scope of the meeting it was revealed that the vision of both HARMONY and BOOST projects are very similar in regard to developing internationalization of higher education in Armenia and it was decided that both project consortiums will put efforts to cooperate also in the future, in order to ensure the synergy between the two Erasmus + project.
