RAU at Horizon 2020 Meeting
On November 10-11, RAU delegation took part in a two-day conference and training within the 8th EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020.
The delegation included head of RAU Department of Economic Theory and Challenges of Transition Economies – Mariam Voskanyan, representatives of Department of Science – Hovhannes Tevosyan, Ani Avetisyan, representatives of Department of International Cooperation Suzanna Shamakhyan and Veronika Aghajanyan and Ph.D. students Hovakim Grabsky and Lidia Mnatsakanyan.
On the first day, participants met with program organizers and got acquainted with Horizon 2020 policy and priorities. They discussed support measures implemented by partners in Eastern countries as well as their national prospects. The conference was followed by training on how to file a successful research grant application.
“I think that we should focus on the idea of renewable energy. It is our future. Together we need to work hard to produce clean energy with no harm to the environment,” said Hovhannes Tevosyan.
By participating in Horizon 2020, Armenian scholars from scientific centers and universities will have more opportunities to integrate into European scientific environment and to initiate collaboration with leading European centers for science and education within international projects.
Horizon 2020 is the eighth framework program funding research, technological development and innovation, running from 2014–2020. Its objective is to complete the European Research Area (ERA) by coordinating national research policies and pooling research funding. Horizon 2020 provides grants to research and innovation projects to legal entities from any country through open and competitive calls for proposals.
