On February 17-18, 2017 at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (Georgia, Tbilisi) the first working meeting of the consortium was held within the Erasmus + project («Promoting Migration Studies in Higher Education», PROMIG).

 

The representatives of partner organizations from Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, as well as Germany, Austria and Spain took part at the meeting. Russian-Armenian University was represented by Mariam Voskanyan - Ph.D., responsible for the educational component of the project, Irina Petrosyan - Ph.D, member of the Scientific Group on the study of  migration processes in Armenia, Lidia Mnatsakanyan - responsible for organizational and administrative issues of the project.

Within the framework of the meeting the schedule of the forthcoming works, the terms of the project implementation, the organizational and financial issues, as well as the role of each partner in the project were discussed.

During the next meetings of the project it is planned to develop programs of summer schools on migration for students, organization of seminars for trainers of summer schools, consultation on the development of an education program on migration for partners from Afghanistan, as well as participation in the international conference on migration.

Note that the PROMIG is a continuation of the TEMPUS UNIMIG "Migration and Higher Education - Building Skills and Capacity" program, which was implemented in 2011 – 2014 with the participation of RAU as a partner.

The PROMIG project is more applied in nature. The new consortium consists of 12 organizations from 7 countries, including Armenia, which is represented by RAU and Yerevan State University (YSU). The coordinator is Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi state University. (TSU).
