RAU Law Students at Young Human Rights Advocates Training

On November 12-16, RAU students in Law Grant Sarkisov and Tigran Petrosyan took part in an educational training Knowledge of Law and History as a Basis for Human Rights Advocacy among Compatriots in Moscow, Russia. It attracted participants from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Ukraine and other coutries.

The training embraced six sessions led by specialists in Law, International Relations and History. As a result of the discussions, the participants came up with suggestions that could be implemented by the Fund to Support and Protect the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affaires of Russia and the Institute of Post-Soviet and Inter-Regional Studies at the Russian State University for the Humanities.

Training participant from RAU Grant Sarkisov mentioned that although they were not required to present individual reports, once realizing that other attendees knew very little about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, they drew the participants' attention to the legal side of the issue.

The training was organized jointly by the Russian State University for the Humanities and the Fund to Support and Protect the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad.
