RAU Career Week

On October 2, Russian-Armenian University hosted the opening of the first Career Week, a week-long series of activities for students and alumni of RAU.

RAU Career Week is an exciting project aiming to give students and alumni an opportunity to network with potential employers, gain professional insight into industries and get expert advice on career development.

RAU Career Week includes:

1. Round tables on hot topics of employment and career development
2. Presentations of companies and student & alumni projects
3. Vacancy fair
4. Master-classes and trainings by companies

RAU Rector Prof. Armen Darbinyan opened the event and emphasized that RAU is famous for having highly qualified and competitive young professionals - RAU alumni work in the leading companies and are always in demand. RAU Career Week will help those who seek employment to connect with the leading Armenian companies.

He also addressed the employment issues in the country, “We have a monopolized sector in the Armenian economy, which we need to demonopolize by our joint efforts. Besides, we need to intensify cooperation in the sector that is open. Today any university can become a center that produces qualified professionals. The current situation Armenia is unique - it allows to pursue science and earn a living. A while ago it was only a dream. This unique situation needs to be further developed”.

During the presentation, Armenian companies specializing in IT, psychology, tourism, banking and other fields shared useful pieces of advice on career growth and offered job opportunities.

President of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia (RUEA) Dr. Gagik Makaryan highlighted that first the labor market needs to be properly assessed, “Unfortunately, there is no effective system to repeatedly assess the demands of the labor market and their correlation with educational institutions and other organizations. The monitoring system is not fully developed yet. Second of all, we need to keep up with the key sectors in economy”.

Within RAU Career Week students and alumni had the opportunity not only to learn about the work of various companies, but also to engage with potential employers directly during the vacancy fair.

Students confided that the vacancy fair was really useful and insightful, “We have learned a lot and had the chance to communicate with the employers first-hand. Thanks to the event we can now better navigate in the difficult market conditions”.
