RAU strengthens ties with China
On May 8-14 at the invitation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), Director of RAU Institute of Humanities, chairman of the public organization "Armenian-Chinese Bridge" Mr. Gagik Sargsyan as a member of the delegation of the Armenian Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries (ASCR) visited Beijing and Xi'an - the ancient capital of China.

During the visit, the Armenian delegation held an official meeting with the leadership of CPAFFC. The sides discussed matters of cooperation between Chinese and Armenian public organizations, in particular, between CPAFFC and ASCR.
It should be mentioned that CPAFFC is an All-China People's union, which is highly involved into a public diplomacy. The Union is aimed at strengthening friendship between the peoples of China and other countries. CPAFFC maintains friendship relations and cooperation with almost five hundred non-governmental organizations in 157 countries around the world.

During his stay in Beijing, Mr. Gagik Sargsyan also met with the Deputy Director General of the State Chancellery for the dissemination of the Chinese language abroad (abbreviated - Hanban) Jin Wei. Hanban coordinates activities of the global network of Confucius Institutes. Following the talks, the ways of development of Sinology in the Russian-Armenian University and the prospects of comprehensive cooperation between Chinese universities and research centers in the fields of history, language, culture, the economy, in the field of IT and high technology were elaborated.
The parties outlined the need for the creation and implementation of conditions for the study of the Armenian-Chinese historical links, as well as the relevance of a more systematic and efficient promotion of the Chinese language and culture among students of RAU and Armenia as a whole.
