“Confucius Readings” at RAU

 
On April 26-27, RAU hosted the II International Scientific Conference “Confucius Readings”. It was organized by the joint efforts of RAU Confucius Center, the Institute of Humanities and Changchun University through the support of the Embassy of China in Armenia.
 
The event attracted representatives of leading Chinese, Russian and Armenian universities, as well as the Center of the Chinese language and culture, Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography at the National Academy of Science of Armenia. Lecturers, undergraduate and graduate students from RAU were among the attendees.
 
Mr. G. Sargsyan, RAU vice-rector, head of the Institute of Humanities, opened the conference with words of welcome and emphasized the significance of the event.
 
The Chinese ambassador to Armenia, Mr. Tyan Erlun, joined the greetings, “I am really glad to be here at this conference and I wish to express our deep admiration and appreciation to Russian-Armenian University and its rector Mr. A. Darbinyan on behalf of the Chinese Embassy”.
 
Ms. Van Tsinlin, head of the School of Foreign Languages at Changchun University, read out their rector’s message, “We are immensely pleased that Russian-Armenian University is actively implementing Chinese Studies (as part of the Foreign Region Studies academic program) in Armenia”. Ms. Van Tsinlin also noted that starting September 2016, Changchun University will launch a course of the Armenian language.
 
The conference comprised different thematic sections, ranging from Chinese language teaching and theory of translation to history, geopolitics, economy and philosophy of China. Speakers delivered presentations in four languages: Russian, Armenian, Chinese and English.
