Success StoriesSusanna Keyan

Susanna Keyan tells about her experience at The D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Bulgaria

1. What was the brightest memory from study abroad experience you had?
Studying in Bulgaria gave me an opportunity to get to know very interesting and intelligent people coming from all over the world and opened me up to new and diverse cultures as I was surrounded by a very international environment. My Erasmus+ friends became a family for me, we used to sit on the balcony, spending peaceful and interesting evenings near the Danube River.
2. What was your biggest challenge/difficulty during the mobility?
The biggest challenge was the process of flying to Sofia and getting to Svishtov, not knowing what was waiting for me there. Also, it was a bit hard to collect all the documents needed, before and during the mobility period.
3. Name 3 main skills you acquired in the result of the mobility.
Erasmus is about getting experience, changing lives and opening up minds. I realized that this experience drastically changed my personality and I will never look at the things as I did before. The most important skills that my mobility helped me to enhance are soft skills such as flexibility and ability to quickly adopt and communicate with people having new and diverse cultural backgrounds. During my mobility I as well expanded skills specific to my academic discipline and strengthened my English language skills.
4. What is one thing you love most about RAU and what would you like to improve?
I like my home university, the only thing I would like to change is to reduce communication barriers and improve information flow.
5. What would you recommend to the prospective mobility participants going abroad?
In my opinion, the main thing is to be self-confident and try to make the most of the opportunity to study and live in a new country.
